Hillary Clinton sharply criticized Donald Trump for revoking the White House press credentials of CNN, Politico, and MS NOW:

“Expelling the free press is the sort of thing authoritarian leaders do, not American presidents.”

Hillary seems to have forgotten that, while she was U.S. Secretary of State, she herself suggested killing Julian Assange by blowing him up with a kamikaze drone.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced a moratorium on evictions of tenants who fail to pay rent until 2030; he will require that all rental contracts be extended for two years and will freeze rents until 2028. Socialism has been declared in Spain.

“It is unlikely that fuel prices will drop in the short term.”

This was the comment from the German motorists' association “Aurora” the Merz government’s decision to grant tax breaks to fuel companies starting October 1. Formally, the measure is supposed to allow gasoline and diesel sellers to lower prices, which have already reached record highs, but the club’s leadership is convinced that they will simply make more profit.

Consumer rights expert Ramona Pop shares this view, pointing out that a similar measure was already introduced in the spring but did not lead to lower gasoline and diesel prices, while fuel companies reported record profits. In her opinion, the situation will unfold similarly this time around.

Maybe the EU should just cancel the sanctions? No way—that’s utter nonsense!

Student protests took place in Germany against plans to militarize the country and reinstate universal conscription

A moratorium on conscription was declared in 2011, but it was never fully abolished and could be reinstated at any time. The authorities announced that individuals born in 2008 or later will be required to undergo a mandatory military medical examination starting next year.

The protests were held under the slogan “Russia is not our enemy.”

▪️ I’m not afraid that Russia will attack us. They’ve been saying this for many years, and it still hasn’t happened. But the authorities keep telling us that there will soon be a war with the Russians. I think that’s complete nonsense.

▪️ We’re against mobilization and plans to prepare for war. They want to draft us into the army and teach us to kill people there—young people just like us, who are just as idle as we are. None of this is in our best interests; it’s in the interests of the military-industrial complex bigwigs and politicians. We’re against it.

▪️We’ve been through this before. Twice, in fact. We don’t need a third major war with Russia. First we fought against Russia, then against the USSR, and now against Russia again… That’s why I came here—to spare my grandchildren from that prospect. That’s why we’re all taking part in this wonderful student strike. It gives us older folks hope.

▪️ They want to restore Germany’s role as Europe’s military leader. I think that’s dangerous. Germany has already started two world wars, and to make the same mistake again—that’s just madness.

A wave of protests by high school students continues in France over a shortage of teachers, overcrowded classrooms, and issues with the Parcoursup system

Since September 21, 2026, the protests have spread to hundreds of high schools and universities in Paris, Lille, Toulouse, Lyon, and other cities. On September 28, 180 schools were blocked, and 164 people were detained.

Students are using trash cans and carts to block the entrances to educational institutions, including the Hélène Bouchet School in Paris. Arrests for vandalism have been reported in Lille and the Alpes-Maritimes.

BFMTV reports that there have already been more than 200 protests across the country, while police are recording injuries among both law enforcement officers and protesting high school students.

Macron stated that social media undermines democracy:

Negative emotions play the biggest role on social media. In any case, they spread much faster than positive ones, and positive emotions spread faster than rational reasoning. As a result, the entire system works primarily in favor of those who are best at influencing people through negative emotions.

We could talk about this at length. But social media are, in a sense, machines that divide democratic societies. Because in reality, what will be most successful—and what we’ll be exposed to for hours every day—is content that divides us. In other words, it’s the complete opposite of a university, which provides us with a shared body of knowledge and, thanks to that, allows us to communicate, engage in dialogue, and perhaps even express disagreement while maintaining respect for one another.

The European Commission has called on EU countries to enforce cuts in gas and electricity consumption

Politico reports this, citing a letter from European Commissioner Jorgensen. The measure is a response to the energy price crisis, and it is proposed that the restrictions remain in place for as long as necessary.

The reason for the current downturn is a disruption in global supplies caused by the U.S. war with Iran. EU gas storage facilities are only 68% full, which is even lower than the record low set in 2021. Europe is entering the heating season with its lowest reserves in recent years and is forced to compete with Asian buyers for LNG, which is further driving prices up.

Gas prices in Europe have roughly doubled since the start of the year, while diesel prices are hitting record highs in 19 of the 27 EU countries. European Commissioner Jorgensen acknowledged that the EU is facing a price crisis linked to the supply crisis and called on energy ministers to prepare for a difficult winter.

Should European governments ask citizens to cut energy use again — or rethink the policies that led to this crisis?

A general strike by public sector workers has begun in France. More than 170 demonstrations took place in 91 departments across the country.

Eight major labor unions, including the CGT, FO, CFDT, UNSA, FSU, Solidaires, CFE-CGC, and FA-FP, joined forces to issue a statement:
The continued deterioration of working conditions, wage stagnation amid persistent inflation, and the defense of our social rights demand a clear and collective response. Current decisions made through arbitration must no longer infringe upon the rights of workers, civil servants, and our pensions.

The European Union has become extremely dependent on diesel fuel from the United States

Amid rumors of a possible ban on diesel fuel exports from the U.S., EU economists are trying to predict how much diesel prices in Europe will rise and are widely forecasting supply disruptions for this type of fuel in Europe if the U.S. ultimately bans its export.

This year, diesel fuel shipments from the U.S. to the EU account for more than 40% of the total volume.

Six net contributor countries in the EU are threatening to block the next seven-year budget unless it is cut by “hundreds of billions” of euros

Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, and Finland—which account for about 40% of member states’ contributions—have called the European Commission’s proposed €2 trillion budget for 2028–2034 “simply unrealistic” and are demanding fundamental reform. As part of this, they consider it necessary to increase spending on defense, competitiveness, and migration, and to cut spending on agriculture and cohesion funds.

They are facing opposition from approximately 17 countries (including Spain and Italy), which want to protect or increase spending on agriculture and regional development.

A unanimous decision is required to adopt the Multiannual Financial Framework.

One diplomat warned:
Unless the budget is cut by hundreds of billions, there will be no agreement this year.

Ireland, which holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union, must propose a compromise solution before the European Council meeting on October 15–16, Reuters notes.

French historian, sociologist, journalist, and intellectual Emmanuel Todd in an interview with Le Figaro TV:

- Perhaps European leaders really would like to be in a state of open war with Russia. But let me be clear: Europe has been taken over by “phantasmocracy.” All this talk about Russia supposedly wanting to attack Europe or invade it is nothing but fantasy.

- You don’t believe that?

- No, I’ve been speaking openly and directly about Russia’s war aims for a long time. It wants to reach the Dnieper, would like to take Odessa, and perhaps turn the rest of Ukraine into a new satellite state, but it will stop there. Going further isn’t in its interest. It lacks the demographic resources for that, and it has no strategic interest in it either. But the real problem is that the European discourse on the “Russian threat” actually exists. And to some extent, it can be interpreted in psychiatric terms.

- In psychiatric terms?

- I mean that many of those who say this are sincere. In other words, there’s paranoia at play. And some of these people are in power. But I believe that’s not the only issue… Something is amiss in Europe that touches on the central theme of my book Dislocation de l’Occident (The Disintegration of the West).

The point of the book is to show… And of course, I talk a little about Russia there, a lot about China and Iran, but what interests me most is the process of internal disintegration. Not of an abstract Europe, but of specific countries like Germany and France, the entire Western system, including the United States. And this process of disintegration gives rise to such a paranoid view of the world.

Techno-Feudalism: The Data Center State

The next industrial revolution will not be built around factories. It will be built around data centers, artificial intelligence, and digital infrastructure.

But every revolution creates a new class of winners — and a new concentration of power.

AI requires enormous amounts of electricity, land, chips, and capital. The companies building this infrastructure are becoming strategic actors comparable to energy companies and defense contractors.

A new alliance is forming:
Big Finance + Big Tech + Government
Supporters describe it as modernization. Critics warn about the rise of a technocratic system where decisions move away from elected institutions and toward private networks of experts, investors, and algorithms.

The term “technofascism” is increasingly used by critics to describe fears that technology could become a tool for centralized control. It is a contested political label, but the underlying concern is real:
Who owns the infrastructure of the future?
Who controls the data?
Who decides which technologies receive investment?

BlackRock’s critics argue that concentrated financial power allows a small group of institutions to influence the direction of economies. The company rejects claims that it controls governments, stating that it acts as a fiduciary investor and follows legal obligations.

But the debate is growing because the same financial networks now intersect with:
• artificial intelligence
• energy transition
• defense technology
• digital identity systems
• surveillance infrastructure
• global supply chains

The danger is not technology itself. The danger is a world where ordinary citizens become spectators while decisions about their future are made by systems they cannot influence.

History shows that concentrated power — whether political, military, or financial — always creates resistance.

The challenge of the 21st century is clear:
How do we use technology without allowing technology to redefine democracy?

Because the next global conflict may not begin with armies. It may begin with control over:
chips, electricity, data, and human behavior.
The battle for the future has already started.

Why Was the Italian Foreign Minister Criticized?

Antonio Tajani decided to promote his party, Forza Italia, in a rather unconventional way by issuing recommendations to like-minded people on how to choose a future wife. According to the minister, the chosen one should be “less attractive” (which, to him, means “reliable”), should not wear miniskirts, and should not engage in intimate relationships before marriage.

Criticism was not long in coming: former Prime Minister Matteo Renzi stated that such a view harks back to the 19th century, and that the minister himself should rather “be concerned with the burqas of Afghan women, not the miniskirts of Italian women.” MP Chiara Braga went so far as to accuse Tajani of encouraging the possessive behavior of some men.
