AMD has agreed to acquire World Labs, the AI research company founded by computer-vision pioneer Fei-Fei Li, in an all-stock deal worth $8.2 billion.

World Labs develops models that understand and generate interactive 3D environments for robotics, simulations and design. Fei-Fei Li will join AMD as chief scientist after the deal closes.

TECH NEWS | A GROUND ROBOT BUILT TO SUPPORT DRONES

First Hydrogen has completed a physical prototype of its modular unmanned ground vehicle. It uses morphing wheels, semi-robotic suspension and interchangeable equipment modules.

The robot is being developed to launch and refuel drones, transport heavy equipment and deliver emergency supplies across difficult terrain. Such platforms could reduce the need to send people into hazardous areas.

Tesla has begun delivering its production-spec Semi trucks to customers including PepsiCo, DHL and US Foods. Its new Nevada factory is designed to produce up to 50,000 trucks per year.

The loaded long-range model is rated for 500 miles, while the standard version reaches 325 miles. If Tesla can scale production, electric trucks could move from pilot fleets into mainstream freight.
