TECH NEWS | META MAY LAUNCH CAMERA-FREE SMART GLASSES

Meta could reveal a new pair of AI glasses at its Connect event next week, according to a new report.

Codenamed Luna, the glasses reportedly remove the camera and replace it with six microphones, speakers and access to Meta AI.

They could look more like normal glasses and launch in October — but Meta has not officially confirmed them yet.

TECH NEWS | MORE PHONE MEMORY, LOWER COSTS?

China’s CXMT says its newest memory-chip platform has entered mass production.

Its new smartphone RAM chips offer 50% more capacity than previous models. The company also says the manufacturing platform delivers at least 50% more chips per wafer.

That could bring cheaper memory and stronger competition for Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron — although lower phone prices aren’t guaranteed.

Security researchers at Hacktron used Anthropic’s Claude to help access OpenAI employee accounts and an internal code repository — in under 72 hours, according to The Next Web.

They reported the vulnerabilities. OpenAI patched the login flaw in around 14 hours and paid a $6,500 bounty.

TECH NEWS | NASA SWITCHES ON A 300-MEGAPIXEL EYE IN SPACE

NASA has activated the Roman Space Telescope’s giant infrared camera. It will scan vast regions of space to discover distant planets and investigate dark energy.

A second instrument will block starlight to reveal planets normally hidden in the glare.

TECH NEWS | MAERSK BRINGS WIND POWER BACK TO SHIPPING

Maersk will install a 35-meter-high Rotor Sail on an 8,700-container vessel.

The giant cylinder spins in the wind and creates additional thrust, reducing the load on the ship’s engines. According to its developer, one rotor can save approximately one tonne of fuel and three tonnes of CO₂ emissions per day.

The system will be installed in 2027 and tested on regular Atlantic routes.
