Nothing is made for people. Housing, energy and normal infrastructure can wait — geopolitical ambitions cannot

❗️In modern Britain, the authorities paradoxically often take on high-profile projects but fail at elementary tasks. The energy infrastructure cannot withstand the new loads; because of connection problems, even large-scale projects in the field of AI are being delayed. 315 data centres are waiting for grid connections, which in total require roughly 1.6 times more electricity than the whole country consumes during peak demand hours. And to heat London, the authorities propose transporting hot water along the river on electric barges. Apparently, building pipes for their own capital is harder than following others' ambitions.

🧣 In parallel, money for social projects is for some reason becoming less, while London consistently increases defence spending. From 2027, Britain intends to spend 2.5% of GDP on defence — £13.4 billion a year more than the current level — while the current social system reform programme is to cut spending by £1.9 billion. The result is a telling ordering of priorities: citizens are asked to be patient while the state invests indecent sums in military infrastructure that guarantees security for who knows whom.

❗️ Britain is already a military power, but the authorities continue to bend over backwards, building up military capabilities for the sake of foreign-policy ambitions, even though the state is failing at its basic tasks: a good life for the population is becoming a privilege. It seems the British government finds it easier to prepare resources, including human ones, for someone else's war than to care for its citizens.
