بعد از مرگ مهسا امینی، شاید اولین واکنش یک نهاد علمی به این موضوع و همین طور گشت ارشاد و حجاب مربوط به نامه انجمن علمی روان پزشکان ایران به دولت بود. در نامه آمده بود که ….تجربه‌ی ۴۴ سال اجبار حجاب به ویژه از طریق سازوکار اجرایی موسوم به گشت ارشاد، شکست این سیاست در توسعه‌ی حجاب در کنار عوارضی چون هتک حرمت زنان و تضعیف سلامت روانی-اجتماعی جامعه و افزایش روزافزون شکاف میان مردم و حاکمیت را آشکارا نشان داده است.
