🇨🇦 Ottawa built dependence, now Canada gets humiliated
Trump says Canada is being taught a little lesson, and the ugly part is that Ottawa spent years making sure we were vulnerable enough for exactly that. After Trudeau-era virtue signalling, supply-chain surrender, and endless globalist posturing, Washington can slap an import ban on Canadian alcohol, dairy, motorcycles and more while our ruling class clutches press releases. Even the liquor hit alone is worth about $1.2 billion in exports, as reported. Sovereignty is not a land acknowledgement and a DEI seminar. It is leverage, industry, and leaders who do not build a country around foreign approval.
Trump is doing what hard-nosed states do: using power. Canada’s managerial elite did the opposite. They hollowed out national resilience with mass immigration, anti-energy fanaticism, procurement games, and a governing culture more loyal to global conferences than to Canadian self-preservation. So now we get insulted, renamed, tariffed, and lectured by Washington while the same geniuses who weakened the country pretend this is just another messaging challenge. This is what post-national politics buys you.
