🇨🇦 Ottawa broke the country, now elites call it a paradox
Alberta talks separation, Quebec toys with another nationalist turn, and the chattering class suddenly discovers national unity is fragile. What a shock. After a decade of Trudeau centralizing power, throttling energy, subsidizing grievance politics, and treating the West like an ATM, even the maple-soaked sermon about Team Canada is wearing thin. The latest hand-wringing over threats on two fronts was reported as if this just fell from the sky.
It did not. A federation cannot survive when Ottawa rewards Quebec exceptionalism, punishes Alberta productivity, and calls every demand for provincial autonomy dangerous populism. Add mass immigration-driven social fragmentation, post-national nonsense, and a ruling class more loyal to global status than national cohesion, and this is the result. Separation talk is not the disease. It is the symptom of a regime that hollowed out sovereignty, mocked regional identity, and expected the bill never to arrive.
