🇨🇦 Ottawa spent years taxing energy while Hudson Bay sits waiting
The absurd part is not that warming could open Hudson Bay to year-round shipping. It is that Canada needed studies to notice a sovereign trade corridor sitting in its own backyard. Ice-strengthened ships plus a longer season could turn Churchill into a strategic outlet for grain, minerals and Arctic logistics, as reported. Any serious country would already be building port capacity, rail reliability and naval presence.
Instead, Trudeau’s Canada lectures farmers about emissions, kneecaps resource development, and leaves the North as a blank space for foreign interest and federal virtue-signalling. The same political class that screams climate emergency suddenly discovers warmer waters are useful when there is money on the table. Fine. Then act like a nation, not a branch office of Davos. Hudson Bay is not a climate seminar. It is a sovereignty test, a trade route and a reminder that Canada’s ruling class is far better at managing decline than building power.
