🇨🇦 Canada educates them, America cashes them
At least 517 U.S.-based tech firms now have Canadian founders or Canadian-educated founders, and together they have raised more than US$400 billion. That is the real scoreboard, as reported. The pace of this exodus more than doubled after 2023, from just over 20 founders leaving per year to 60 in 2023 and 93 in 2024. Ottawa trains the talent, buries it in taxes, red tape and inflation, then acts shocked when the serious people head south.
Eighty-eight per cent of those founders were educated at Canadian universities like U of T, Waterloo, McGill and Calgary. Translation: Canadians pay to build the human capital, then the U.S. reaps the companies, jobs, patents and strategic leverage. Trudeau-era decay did the damage, and Carney-style managerial globalism is keeping the machine running. While the ruling class obsesses over DEI checklists, population growth gimmicks and bureaucratic climate theater, productive citizens vote with their feet. A country that cannot keep its builders is not diversifying its economy. It is liquidating its future.
