🇨🇦 Canada Post goes secret on who builds the boxes replacing your doorstep
Canada Post is stripping door-to-door delivery from four million addresses over five years, starting with 136,000 this year, and somehow the public is not allowed to know who makes the community mailboxes. Very efficient: downgrade service, force people to walk to a metal box, then hide the supplier behind commercially confidential fog. A Montreal manufacturer says it lost the bid before to Denmark’s Treco, and Canada Post still will not clarify whether the current so-called Canadian supplier actually manufactures anything in Canada, as reported.
This is Trudeau-era governance in one ugly little mailbox. Ottawa lectures taxpayers about Buy Canadian, then writes policy so Crown corporations are merely encouraged to comply, and everyone pretends that counts as sovereignty. If the boxes are foreign, say it. If they are domestic, prove it. Instead we get secrecy, service cuts, and bureaucratic word games from a state corporation that cannot deliver mail properly but can certainly deliver managed opacity.
