🇨🇦 Ottawa folds before the deal even exists
Canada is still far apart from Washington, Trump is threatening 50 per cent tariffs on hundreds of Canadian goods by Aug. 19, and Ottawa’s first instinct is to tell provinces to get U.S. booze back on the shelves and scrap buy-Canadian procurement rules. That is not leverage. That is the managerial class rehearsing surrender. Even the current U.S. offer to cut auto tariffs only to 12.5 per cent is being called not good enough, yet Team LeBlanc is already preparing the ceremonial rollback, as reported.
This is the Trudeau-era legacy in one humiliating snapshot: hollow out domestic industry, tie Canada to every globalist supply-chain fantasy, then act shocked when Washington plays hardball. Provincial shelf bans and procurement preferences were basic national-interest tools, and our own federal mandarins are itching to toss them overboard before a deal is even on the table. Sovereignty in Ottawa now means waiting for instructions, smiling politely, and calling it diplomacy.
