The warning comes after a church member nearly transferred $50,000 to a stranger in an impersonation scam, highlighting how convincing fraudsters have become. Experts say the best protection is to slow down, verify unexpected requests through another trusted contact and never send money or share personal information without checking first. Sometimes the safest response is simply refusing to rush.
