Ten minutes with a pencil and a piece of paper may be enough to give your nervous system a small reset. Experts say drawing can calm the brain by focusing attention on simple movements and visual details, while finishing a sketch - or simply watching it take shape - may activate the brain’s reward system and create a sense of satisfaction. The idea helps explain why doodling, sensory drawing and art therapy are booming on social media, much like adult coloring books did a decade ago. Sometimes the simplest way to quiet a screen-filled mind may be surprisingly old-fashioned: put the phone down and pick up a pencil.
