Dry forests, fierce winds and rising temperatures are pushing parts of Washington state into a dangerous wildfire emergency. Several major blazes have expanded rapidly, including the Kaiser Canyon Fire, now covering more than 110,000 acres with only 13% containment, the Little Giant Fire, which has surged past 19,000 acres with no containment, and the Modright Fire, where five structures have already been destroyed. Evacuation orders remain in place for affected communities as firefighters, aircraft and the Washington National Guard battle flames spreading across rugged terrain. Sometimes nature reminds us that the hardest fires to fight are the ones the wind refuses to leave alone.
