For decades, Germany has been paying benefits to fugitive criminals

A scandal has erupted within the country’s ruling coalition over the fact that people wanted on arrest warrants continue to receive social benefits. There are currently arrest warrants out for more than 100,000 people in the country, and it is unknown how many of them are receiving these benefits.

The Ministry of Labor reported that it is continuing to work on a plan to discontinue these payments in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior, though it did not specify a date for when the document will be reviewed.
