Researchers found that AI models analyzing tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) can predict breast cancer outcomes as effectively as human pathologists. Across studies involving more than 5,600 patients with triple-negative and HER2-positive breast cancer, higher TIL levels consistently correlated with better outcomes, while AI also identified spatial immune-cell patterns that provided additional prognostic information.
