ℹ️: The start of Russia's winter campaign against Ukrainian energy infrastructure is just weeks away.
- On the 30th of August, the Russian Ministry of Defense released a statement that "Russia is preparing for massive strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and will soon launch a new wave of attacks."
- Over the last few weeks, we have seen a massive increase in Russian drone and missile activity. Particularly, Kyiv has been under near constant bombardment for over 100 hours. We have also noted a rise in surveillance missions by Russian drones over western Ukraine.
- In previous posts, I've covered several ways that Russia has increased its long-range strike capabilities during recent months. The coming months will open pandora's box when it comes to the incredibly versatile arsenal that Russia has been building.
- This imminent escalation becomes even more significant when we consider Ukraine's critical shortage of air-defense systems. Russia's rapid missile and drone production is far outpacing European interceptor aid.
- It is possible that the next Russian missile attack against Ukraine that utilizes strategic aviation will begin targeting energy infrastructure, hence beginning the expected winter campaign.
⚠️ U.S. intelligence has warned Ukraine of an increased threat of ballistic strikes during the next 48 hours. Reportedly, Russia has accumulated approximately 35 Zircon/Iskander-M missiles for such an attack.
⚠️ Russian strategic aviation movements were noted that suggest a possibility of cruise missile attacks against Ukraine within the next 14 days.
