Why you should never sacrifice your happiness, even for your loved ones. Part 3.
▫️ You risk taking the position of a victim
By constantly giving up your needs, desires, and goals to keep your family and friends happy, you may take the position of victim for a long time. Instead of solving your problems, getting your life in order, and taking responsibility for your emotions, you will stomp around in the same place. You'll convince yourself that you spent all your resources on other people because you couldn't do otherwise, and now you have to put up with the inconvenience.
But here's food for thought: no one asked you to give up your happiness, which means that you alone are to blame for the consequences of your decision. Stop shifting the responsibility for your life onto someone else. Gather your strength in your fist and finally start putting things in order. The next time you want to make someone happy, be kind enough to make yourself happy first.
▫️ People might start taking what you do for granted.
The more often you go against yourself and your interests in the hope that it will make your loved one happier, the less appreciative it makes the person responsible for your actions. Seriously, you may be able to surprise a person one day and make them feel admiration and even a rush of love and respect for you, but it will be an isolated incident. People very quickly begin to take your actions for granted. Soon, your behavior is so accustomed to, that they themselves begin to demand that you make decisions not in your favor.
