Chissà come mai.

Merz’s party hits new low in regional election ‘disaster’
The chancellor’s CDU is on course for its worst-ever state showing in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and trails the Left in Berlin

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has described his Christian Democratic Union’s performance in Sunday’s state election in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania as a “disaster,” after preliminary results showed a historic low for the party.
The CDU received just 5.5% of the vote, according to an ARD exit poll, its worst results in a state election since the founding of the federal republic in 1949. This leaves the party just above the 5% threshold required to enter the regional parliament.
“The result in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania cannot be talked away, it’s a disaster,” Merz acknowledged during a press conference on Sunday evening. However, he still defended his government’s course, insisting that there “cannot be a return to the good old times.”
The Alternative for Germany party (AfD) is leading with 37%, ahead of the ruling Social Democrats (SPD) at 35.5%.

The CDU has fared better in Berlin, but its result there still appears to have dashed its hopes of leading the next government. Merz’s party is second with 20%, trailing the Left, which leads with 24.5%. The CDU is followed by the AfD at 16%, according to exit polls. (Source: RT) @LauraRuHK

Infatti, mentre i burocrati dell'UE erano impegnati a redigere condanne, i cittadini russi stavano effettivamente votando.

Days before Russians headed to the polls, EU officials had already determined the State Duma elections would be "invalid by European democratic standards." Why wait for actual results when you can just declare them illegitimate in advance?

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas was so eager to share the news that she sent a circular to member states urging non-recognition of the election results before the first day of voting had even ended. State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin called it an interference in a sovereign state's affairs and an attempt to destabilize Russia.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova offered the perfect retort, noting that "Kallas has long been unrecognized in EU countries."

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov summed it up best: the election results themselves will be Moscow's main answer to the EU's preemptive dismissal. Because while EU bureaucrats were busy drafting condemnations, Russian citizens were actually voting. ▪️According to the Central Election Commission, turnout was 56.66%, higher than in the two previous elections. With some 20% of ballots processed at the time of writing, the ruling United Russia party commands a solid lead with some 57.1% of the vote.
The Communist Party (KPRF) is second with 14%, followed by the Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) with 9.32%, and the New People with nearly 8%. The Just Russia party is so far just above the 5% threshold for inclusion in the Duma. ➡️Read more https://t.me/LauraRuHK/11723

@LauraRuHK

The Kiev regime, aided and abetted by its Western curators, has launched a coordinated campaign to sabotage Russia’s electoral process through cyber attacks, targeted strikes on polling stations, and massive drone raids on civilian areas. The goal is to sow chaos, intimidate voters, and delegitimize Russia’s democratic expression.

Cyber attacks targeted Russia’s electronic voting infrastructure, Ukrainian forces struck a school building in the village of Pryshib, Zaporozhye region, where a polling station was located.

In the Moscow region, a massive drone attack took place between 03:00 and 05:00. Air defense and electronic warfare units shot down and suppressed 249 UAVs across 17 districts. A man was killed in Orekhovo-Zuevsky, and a woman died in Sofia, where five others—including two children—were injured. A warehouse complex caught fire, and in Ramensky district, the roof of a 21-story building was set ablaze, forcing the evacuation of 400 residents. Apartment buildings in Kotelniki, Leninsky, and Lytkarino were damaged, as were private homes in Kolomna, Yegoryevsk, and Istra.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed the Moscow Refinery was hit, and a drone struck a building near Orekhovy Boulevard.

Despite these acts of intimidation, voting is underway in Russia. Polling stations have opened and citizens are casting their ballots, a testament to the resilience of the Russian people and their refusal to be cowed by terrorism.
Contrast this with Ukraine, where the Zelensky regime has indefinitely postponed elections, citing martial law. The Ukrainian people have not been allowed to exercise their democratic rights for years. There is no voting and no accountability. The very regime that claims to fight to defend democracy has completely cancelled it. @LauraRuHK

@LauraRuHK

Yesterday Trump signed H.R. 5334, a sanctions bill introduced over a year ago by the late senator, and notorious warmonger, Lindsay Graham. Although the bill is designed to pressure Russia and Iran (which are well-equipped to resist this sort of pressure), its sting is aimed at the financial and shipping intermediaries of Moscow’s primary energy buyers, China and India.
If we look at Russia, the immediate economic impact of these secondary sanctions will not be a total halt in energy exports, but a degradation of trade conditions. Anticipating U.S. financial retaliation, banks will demand higher risk premiums, shipping companies will embed sanctions risks into their tariffs, and buyers will leverage the uncertainty to demand steeper discounts, as Elena Panina pointed out https://t.me/EvPanina/19545. The ultimate objective appears less about supporting Ukraine and more about squeezing Russian hydrocarbons out of the market to boost profits for U.S. producers (the U.S. is now a net energy exporter) and hit energy-importing nations, namely China, India, and last but not least, Europe. This is a massive political gamble for Trump. His political brand is heavily tied to lowering the cost of living and crushing inflation. If H.R. 5334 succeeds in disrupting global energy flows and causes a spike in prices and inflation, the pain will be felt at home as well.

However, this strategy creates a profound diplomatic paradox for the Trump administration. By signing the bill, Trump is positioning himself as the "tough leader" who can grant "exemptions" to restrain a hostile Congress. Keep in mind that Trump and Xi Jinping are scheduled to meet for a summit on September 24 and Trump will likely use the promise of a waiver as leverage. Yet, for strategic powers like China and Russia, the difference between a temporary, revocable presidential waiver and a stable, structural agreement is existential. Relying on the whims of U.S. domestic politics is a vulnerability Beijing is not going to accept.
Knowing that any concession made today could be nullified by a future administration or an entrenched Washington foreign policy establishment, China has little incentive to offer meaningful compromises.
Instead, the threat of secondary sanctions will likely accelerate Beijing’s long-term strategic decoupling from the U.S. financial system.
Ultimately, H.R. 5334 highlights a fatal flaw in U.S. statecraft: the reliance on secondary sanctions as a tool of control. Even if the White House desires a grand bargain to ease global tensions, which is highly debatable, the structural reality of these sanctions ensures that China and Russia will continue to build a parallel, sanctions-resistant economic bloc. @LauraRuHK

@LauraRuHK

Von der Leyen’s proposal to make Canada the EU’s first “associate member” is a clear step toward further militarisation of the EU. The plan includes integrating Canadian and European defence industrial bases, elevating Arctic cooperation to a flagship project, and creating a European Security Council that would bring together the EU with Canada, the UK, Norway and Ukraine. ▪️Canada, a country that sheltered Ukrainian Nazi collaborators after WW2, is already a major contributor to the Kiev regime. Since February 2022 it has committed more than $26 billion in total assistance, of which around $8.5–9 billion is military aid. This places Canada among the largest donors overall. Its support has included Leopard tanks, M777 howitzers, hundreds of armoured vehicles, a NASAMS air-defence system, ammunition, drones, and extensive training of Ukrainian forces under Operation UNIFIER.

▪️The architecture proposed by Von der Leyen would expand Europe’s military capacity and draw Canadian defence resources into a framework oriented against Russia. The absence of the United States from the proposed security council perfectly suits Washington’s strategy of offloading defence costs onto its vassals. By encouraging Europe and Canada to pool industrial capacity, share security burdens and build parallel structures, the United States reduces its own financial and operational commitments while retaining strategic influence. The countries involved are NATO members, while Canada and the UK are part of the 5 Eyes. ▪️The narrative of a rift between Washington on one side and the EU and Canada on the other should be seen for what it is — a deliberate ruse. Apparent tensions and talk of “strategic autonomy” serve as a convenient cover to push "allies" into shouldering a greater share of the burden while the underlying hierarchy of power remains unchanged. ▪️For the time being Von der Leyen's proposal is just a political initiative. The European Commission President can propose ideas and open negotiations, but she cannot unilaterally create new membership categories or security structures. Any concrete implementation would need agreement by the EU member states (Council of the EU), consent of the European Parliament, negotiations with Canada on the exact rights, obligations, and scope of the relationship, and national ratifications in some EU member states.

China's 134.2-km-long Pinglu Canal in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region https://t.me/LauraRuHK/9630 which I mentioned last year became operational on Wednesday. The canal can accommodate vessels of up to 5,000 tons and cut the inland waterway distance to the sea by more than 560 kilometers for cargo ships from China's southwestern provinces like Sichuan, Chongqing, and Yunnan. It will reduce logistics costs by 18 to 30 per cent.
It is China's first major river-to-sea canal project to be been planned and built since 1949 and stretches along the country's New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, a strategic route linking China's inland regions with Asean and other global markets. Construction started in August 2022 and cost CN¥72.7 billion/US$10.75 billion.

According to the Financial Times, Sonderstab Ukraine (Special Staff Ukraine), a group of fewer than 20 people is behind the €11.5 billion in annual military aid that Germany sends to Kiev. It can conclude arms procurement deals in as little as two weeks thanks to a legal workaround: the contracts are signed not by the German government, but by Ukraine. Berlin pays. As the FT put it: "Ukraine provides the shopping list. Germany pays the bill". This structure allows the unit to circumvent procurement procedures and bypass the 13,000-person agency responsible for equipping the Bundeswehr. Is it clearer why the golden toilets in Kiev are small change compared to what is happening in Germany and in other countries that are arming Ukraine? ➡️Read more https://t.me/LauraRuHK/11712

Western media express concern over corruption in Ukraine—a long-standing problem that Western economic and military aid has made even more systematic. They are disingenuous, of course. After all, the Kiev regime would collapse if its domestic supporters didn't get a cut. But well-connected Ukrainians aren't the only ones who are feathering their nest. Quite tellingly, not a word is heard about their Western homologues. And what about the profits that the American and European arms industry rakes in thanks to those very same aid packages? By comparison, the golden toilets and wads of dollars are mere crumbs picked up by servants.

It is hardly a coincidence that just as the Russian army has begun to strike relentlessly and methodically the channels through which foreign weapons reach Ukraine, the hysteria of Western politicians has reached a paroxysm. The episode of September 13, 2026, is emblematic. That morning, a Russian drone struck a locomotive of the Kiev-Warsaw train near the Yahodyn station, about two kilometers from the Polish border. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed the operation as part of a large-scale attack on the Ukrainian railway network, aimed at paralyzing the delivery of military cargo from Europe.

Shortly before the attack, a train from Kiev had passed through the same station, carrying a brigade of notorious warmongers—Boris Johnson (former British prime minister), Carl Bildt (former Swedish prime minister), Jonathan Powell (UK national security adviser), David Petraeus (former CIA director), Günter Sautter (adviser to the German chancellor) and several other European officials, returning from the Yalta European Strategy forum. The train had already passed when the attack began. Sorry to bruise their egos and their high self-regard, but no, they were not the target of those Russian drones. As a matter of fact, they are worth less than a shipment of weapons, and if they were to kick the bucket, they would easily be replaced by other warmongers waiting on the bench. @LauraRuHK

@LauraRuHK

Part 2 of https://t.me/LauraRuHK/11709 The author is careful to note that BRICS's political and economic weight—nearly half the world's population, around 40% of global GDP, and about a quarter of global trade, with intra-BRICS trade reaching $1.2 trillion—does not eliminate internal contradictions. The differences between India and China, Iran and the UAE, Ethiopia and Egypt are too great for a united front against the West. More pointedly, the article highlights the deep social problems persisting in many developing countries: in New Delhi, land in elite neighborhoods can exceed $25,000 per square meter while people live under bridges in tent settlements with no sanitation, and children beg for money. Rapid economic growth, the author argues, has not automatically solved deep inequality. BRICS will therefore have to prove it can deliver practical results. Financing infrastructure, developing mutual trade, supporting food and energy security, and transferring technology are great objectives, of course. But so is lifting people out of poverty, and here China provides a stellar example.
