📌 Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has urged government officials to avoid divisive disputes and mobilize all available resources to address people’s problems, saying national unity could turn economic hardship into an opportunity to tackle long-standing issues.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Pezeshkian stressed the importance of cooperation and clearly defined responsibilities in neighborhood-based initiatives led by mosques to address local needs and strengthen social trust.
He called for greater involvement of experts, philanthropists and volunteer groups, with services and responsibilities coordinated to ensure effective assistance.
The president also highlighted efforts to curb excessive fuel consumption and smuggling. He said authorities had reviewed vulnerabilities across relevant agencies, including the oil, roads and urban development, agriculture, and industry, mining and trade ministries. As part of the measures, 600,000 diesel fuel cards without valid identification had been deactivated, he noted.
Pezeshkian said coordinated efforts had eliminated the need to import gasoline, which would otherwise have cost the country $8 billion. He added that reconstruction of damaged industries, roads, bridges and electricity and gas facilities was continuing despite wartime operations.
He attributed the progress to the efforts of public employees, managers and citizens, stressing that national cohesion and sustained work were essential to overcoming challenges.
President’s aide stresses social cohesion amid war
The President’s social affairs aide Ali Rabiei made similar comments on Wednesday evening at a meeting in Isfahan.
Rabiei said that Iran needs stronger social cohesion than ever as it faces war and crisis, arguing that the enemy is actively seeking to fuel public discontent and drive people toward protests.
He stressed the need for greater public awareness and stronger engagement between civil society institutions and the public.
