📌 Tehran, IRNA – Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh has described the attacks on educational and residential areas during armed conflicts as a violation of fundamental human rights, as well as a threat to morality and humanity.
Speaking at a ceremony in Tehran marking the World Habitat Day on Monday, Sadegh criticized the silence of international bodies on military threats to vital public infrastructure, in reference to aggression launched by the United States and the Israeli regime in the West Asia region.
Noting how international slogans regarding human settlements have evolved in response to crises such as climate change, floods, earthquakes, and landslides, she said the world today, alongside environmental challenges, faces a profound moral crisis, which needs a collective response.
She expressed concern over the lack of effective action regarding threats by some powers of using weapons of mass destruction and carrying out assaults on the very existence of nations, the issue that is being raised on international platforms.
The minister, highlighting the importance of settlement connectivity through road and rail networks in bolstering urban resilience and access to public services, emphasized the necessity of preserving vital infrastructure, calling them critical lifelines of citizens.
She also pointed to the US-Israeli violation of fundamental rights—such as access to education, sports, and safe shelter guaranteed in international documents—in reference to bombings of the Minab school, Lamerd sports facilities in Iran and elsewhere in the region.
Sadegh asserted that the killing of students in schools, as well as athletes and civilians, was clear proof of the disregard to fundamental human principles, urging the international community to provide an honest account of the situation and unfolding events in Iran and Gaza.
