Hey, guys! Ludum Dare is coming up!

Ludum Dare is an awesome global online game jam. And now, we'll finally gather at the hackspace to collaborate and immerse ourselves in the shared atmosphere. Here is the rules.
Join us next weekend to create games!

We kick off at 10:00 on April 29, and the jam lasts for two days.

You can come as a team, participate solo, or form a team right at the event. You can write code, create storylines, draw, make music – anything that can be turned into a game!

Please note that we have limited spots available, so registration is mandatory. Participation is free, but donations are welcome.

If you don't want to participate in the hackathon itself, you're still welcome to bring your game for the final presentation at 18:00 on April 30.

HACK BASICS (theory + practice):
Writing a Lisp interpreter

When: Wednesday, April 26, 19:00

We continue our discovery of what programming and computation are in the essence. Previously we've successfully implemented a Turing machine emulator. However programs for the Turing machine do not look like programs in real languages. This time we'll implement an easily readable Lisp-like programming language able to work with numbers and strings.

What we'll learn and implement:

• Chomsky hierarchy of grammars (brief theory)
• Types of syntactic analysis (brief theory)
• Lexical analysis with a finite state machine
• Syntactic analysis with a simple recursive LL(1) parser
• S-expressions
• Garbage collection (optional)
• Lambda functions, closures
• "map", "filter", "reduce" and other typical higher-order functions

Bring a laptop with a compiler/interpreter of your choice.

CTF (jeopardy)

CTF (Capture The Flag) is a kind of information security competition that challenges contestants to solve a variety of tasks ranging from a scavenger hunt on wikipedia to basic programming exercises, to hacking your way into a server to steal data. In these challenges, the contestant is usually asked to find a specific piece of text that may be hidden on the server or behind a webpage. This goal is called the flag, hence the name!

Jeopardy format means that there are separate tasks split into different categories.
