Two-Year Prison Sentence and 200 BD Fine for Teacher Ali Muhanna Over Participation in Mourning Procession
Bahrain’s judiciary has sentenced activist teacher Ali Muhanna to two years in prison alongside a fine of 200 Bahraini Dinars.
The sentence was issued over his participation in a religious mourning procession in the capital, Manama, coinciding with the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Muhammad al-Baqir.
The court ruling also targeted several other citizens, including Sadiq Jaafar Al-Misjin, Sayed Hadi Jawat, Sajjad Abdul-Samad Saeed Habib, Ali Hussain Eid, Hamza Shaker Saeed, Hussain Shaker Saeed, and Saeed Akbar Saeed, among others.
These sentences fall within an ongoing crackdown on religious freedoms and the systematic targeting of Hussaini processions and rituals, reflecting a broader context of discrimination against the country's Shiite community.
