Pakistan’s top cleric, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Ashrafi, made a statement about Yemen’s Ansar-Allah (widely known as ‘Houthis’) at a conference in Saudi Arabia, saying they have “no connection with Islam.” His remarks expose a dangerous fault line in the Muslim world, one where the Wahhabi ideology has increasingly been serving, directly and indirectly, the interests of Zionist and imperialist power.
