🇰🇷 Korean banks face new data leak

Customer data from KB Kookmin Bank in South Korea was breached after hackers stole personal information from more than 100 clients, according to industry sources. The incident followed a similar case at Shinhan Bank, which reported a leak affecting around 25,000 customers, including annual income, names and phone numbers.

Sources said the attackers are currently suspected to be based overseas and used advanced AI tools to extract information. The back-to-back cases have raised concern that other lenders may also be exposed, with industry insiders warning that AI agent-assisted attacks could target vulnerable online platforms across the financial sector.

The cases increase pressure on financial institutions to conduct immediate security inspections and strengthen monitoring for abnormal access attempts.
