Which is more important — blood ties or the years spent together? A Tokyo-based engineer is informed that his six-year-old son is not biologically his — a mistake at the hospital switched the babies at birth. Now he must choose: keep the child he has raised all these years, or take back his “real” son.

As always, Kore-eda directs with quiet subtlety and no heavy-handedness. He observes gently and attentively as one world falls apart and another begins to grow from its ruins. The central figures in this story are men learning to be vulnerable for the first time, silent children with knowing eyes, and the deeply ambiguous nature of parental love.

Что важнее — кровные узы или годы, прожитые вместе? Инженеру из Токио сообщают, что его шестилетний сын — не родной, и попал в семью в результате ошибки в роддоме. Ему нужно выбрать: оставить ребёнка, которого он растил все эти годы, или вернуть «настоящего».

Корээда, как всегда, режиссирует тихо и незаметно, без нажима. Он внимательно и просто свидетельствует, как один мир разрушается, в то время как другой начинает вырастать на его обломках. Главные герои этой истории — мужчины, которые впервые в жизни учатся быть слабыми, молчаливые дети с понимающими глазами и нифига не очевидная природа родительской любви.
