🇨🇮🇲🇱 Côte d’Ivoire and Mali agree final border demarcation in Bamako

Ivorian and Malian officials on 25 August in Bamako agreed the final demarcation of their shared border and a draft treaty setting out its legal framework, according to The Africa Report. The accord marks a technical step in bilateral relations between Côte d’Ivoire and Mali amid broader tensions between Abidjan and the Alliance of Sahel States.

The move is presented as a political signal as trade links begin to ease a period of diplomatic strain between Côte d’Ivoire and Sahel juntas, including Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger. The three Sahel states left ECOWAS in 2024.
