🇸🇩🇪🇹 Sudan rejects Ethiopia allegations of supporting Tigray fighters

Sudan’s military said late Sunday it categorically rejected allegations by Ethiopian army chief Field Marshal Birhanu Jula that Khartoum was backing armed groups fighting Ethiopian federal forces in Tigray. Jula had accused Sudan, Egypt and Eritrea on Sunday of supporting forces battling the federal government as fighting escalated in northern Ethiopia.

The Sudanese armed forces called the accusations baseless and said Sudan was committed to international law and good-neighbourly relations. The renewed clashes have raised fears of a return to the 2020-2022 Tigray war, which the African Union estimates killed more than 600,000 people.
