🇪🇹 Ethiopia steps up drone use as fighting with Tigrayan forces intensifies

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government has again turned to drones as fighting with TPLF-led Tigrayan forces escalates into what The Africa Report described as a full-blown war. The article recalls that in late 2021, Tigrayan militias advanced to within about 200km of Addis Ababa, when the federal government used drones to blunt their push. An AFP image published with the report showed damage to Tigray TV in Mekelle following a drone strike on 27 September 2026.
