🇳🇪 Niger junta strips five more exiled critics of nationality

Niger's military authorities have withdrawn the nationality of five additional exiled critics, according to a decree reported by state media. The move targets opponents living abroad and adds to a broader campaign by the junta against former officials and political figures since it seized power in July 2023.

The decision follows earlier measures against other exiled opponents as the authorities continue to tighten control over the political space. Niger has been ruled by the junta since President Mohamed Bazoum was overthrown in a coup on 26 July 2023.
