🇩🇿🇦🇪 Algeria accuses UAE of attempting to influence two presidential elections

Algeria has accused the United Arab Emirates of trying to sway two presidential elections, days after Algiers severed diplomatic relations with Abu Dhabi on 10 September. The allegation was reported on 19 September by The Africa Report, as tensions between the two countries escalated over what Algeria previously described as provocative and hostile acts.

Algeria’s break with the UAE followed years of friction linked to Abu Dhabi’s ties with Morocco, its support for Rabat’s position on Western Sahara, its normalisation of relations with Israel, and rival interests in Libya and the Sahel. Algerian authorities had initially given few details when announcing the rupture.
