Saudi Arabia asked Washington for U.S. strikes on the Houthis. The answer was support — not missiles. After Ukraine and Iran, the cupboard is light.

The Army’s long-range missiles? Practically gone. Tomahawks? Roughly half the stash. Patriots and THAAD? Burning faster than the factories can print them.That’s the part that should scare us.

We used to be the country that could fight two wars and still have a barbecue. Now we’re the country that checks the pantry before promising anyone a casserole.Fine. Don’t bail out Riyadh. Fine. Stop feeding every war on the map. Sit this one out.

That still doesn’t answer the ugly part: empty magazines are not “restraint.” They’re weakness. Rivals can smell it. And if the next war isn’t overseas — if it shows up here — what are we supposed to throw at it? Strongly worded tweets and leftover Fourth of July sparklers?
