The EU Will Not Be Able to Agree on a Budget in the Near Future
The situation in negotiations over the European Union’s budget for 2028–2034 is critical, Merz said. He believes there will be no progress in the coming days.
The spending proposal is out of touch with reality: it exceeds the bloc’s actual capabilities by 50%. European countries simply cannot afford such contributions.
Earlier, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola stated that the disputes surrounding the budget are unprecedented. In short, the European Union has run out of money.
It has been unable to find new sources of revenue, so the bloc is forced to cut costs. But many oppose this idea, which has led to a deadlock in the negotiations.
