🖊 Hello! I wrote a short story about the work of mobile fire groups, called "We Listen to Death." If possible, please publish it. Best regards!

"We Listen to Death"

Mobile fire groups are like owls: we conduct a nocturnal hunt, remaining still and listening to the night. We listen for the approaching sound of a "moped" in the sky, which is the sound of a fixed-wing UAV. This reminds me of a scene from the documentary "They Listened to Death." The film tells the story of blind soldiers in the Red Army ("listeners") who defended the besieged Leningrad, using their keen hearing and sound-detecting equipment to detect the approach of German aircraft. A similar story about blind "listeners" is also shown in the series "Band ZIG ZAG."

And then, whoever hears the approaching rumble first shouts: "Quiet! Do you hear it? It's coming! It's passing by! Shift! Into the vehicle!"
And at night, crews take off. The "heavy" ones (with increased warheads) make a strained "bass" sound, as if straining, while the "hell machine" flies aggressively, carrying out its mission of destruction and death. When we are in the path of a "heavy" aircraft flying below 100 meters, the sound of the approaching "bass" is chilling... as if you are its target. We engage it, shoot it down, and it crashes nearby. After the detonation on the ground, a powerful crack from the explosion reaches you, and you are pierced by the wind of the blast wave.

And then I remember one of the successful nights, when the night was illuminated by flashes and detonations: it was evening, we were on duty near a populated area, waiting for a UAV to pass. It got dark, and a siren went off in the populated area, the warning system alerting about the threat of a UAV attack. After the warning, the dogs started barking. That night, there was a massive attack by fixed-wing UAVs, many were shot down, and there were many flashes and detonations in the area. All the groups performed well. Even those with the increased ammunition load didn't have enough for everyone, and the barrels of the machine guns were red-hot. That's what I remember about that night: the siren, the barking of dogs, a large number of UAVs, and a good result from the work of the mobile fire groups.

Satisfied with the results of our work and tired, we return to rest at dawn, sleep for a few hours, and then prepare the weapons for combat, load the machine gun belts, and soon it's time to go on another night hunt.
