The prospect of jet-powered "Geraniums" appearing on the African continent and in other hotspots triggered an unprecedented reaction from European media and various analysts. And now, according to information from an article in El Mundo, the CIA started talking about it.

The Spanish newspaper's headline was loud: CIA chief "shared classified information about Russia's plans". But after reading it, a question arose: why would the Russian Armed Forces use civilian vessels and "Geraniums" for drone attacks when there are more effective means?

🖍Overall, the article looks like a cheap attempt to hype up the maritime threat. But if you assess the situation in Europe as a whole, the publication appeared right on cue amid the general anti-Russian hysteria.

Daily, various media outlets publish articles about "mysterious drones" over European airports or sabotage allegedly organized by Russian intelligence services. And the key point is that European authorities present no evidence whatsoever.

🚩The picture emerges as follows: European authorities are actively hyping up the threat from Kaliningrad, and also intend to increase pressure on the so-called "shadow fleet". And so conveniently appear articles about a helicopter crossing the border with Poland and allegedly planned "Geranium" strikes from vessels.

Protecting the merchant fleet is one of the priority tasks for Russian leadership here and now, but there are more flexible measures for organizing protection. Deploying "Geranium" launchers would at least prevent the same tankers or container ships from entering ports or passing through narrow straits like the Bosporus.

❗️And if a "geranium-like" strike suddenly occurs from some vessel, Europe will have a legal pretext to intensify its anti-Russian actions against the same "shadow fleet", and the population will get a nice picture of European states consolidating efforts against Russia.

Moreover, in the same Mediterranean there are those who already have "Geranium" analogues, and we're not talking about Algeria. Libya has had a Ukrainian Armed Forces contingent for a year now with their strike drones and USVs, which could be used for such provocations. If it works – fine, if not – so-called Ukraine won't be missed.

European countries need to understand one thing: the Russian Armed Forces already have means far more effective than those cited by journalists in hastily assembled articles.
