Amazing how the press treats rolling back a 50 mpg fantasy like the fall of civilization, when the rule was already mostly a dead letter once the penalties vanished. What they are really mourning is not efficiency, but control: force people into pricier cars, call it saving the planet, and sneer when normal people notice the bill. Even funnier, the panic around this rollback says more about preserving the Net Zero religion than helping drivers.
