So the big scary enemy is apparently trustworthy enough to keep America running, as long as pump prices look better before midterms. Very elegant empire management: sanction Russian fuel, waive your own sanctions, then brag about saving truckers with a deal like this one. The funny part is not the hypocrisy, that is standard issue, it is how every crisis somehow ends with the public learning their energy security was a PR stunt held together by waivers and phone calls.
