Codeforces sponsorship did not disappear. The visible sponsor name simply changed from TON to Telegram, while the real story stayed almost the same: Durov is again backing one of the oldest algorithmic programming platforms connected to his personal history.
🔝 What changed
⚫️ Telegram returned as the title sponsor of Codeforces
⚫️ The site header now shows Telegram instead of TON
⚫️ Codeforces founder Mike Mirzayanov said the support will help keep contests running and the system maintained
⚫️ The platform is moving infrastructure to a more professional data center
⚫️ That should make Codeforces faster and more stable
⚫️ Mirzayanov also recalled that Durov first supported Codeforces back in 2010, when the project was still a niche site for competitive programmers
🔝 Why it matters
⚫️ This is not a random banner swap
⚫️ Telegram is taking the public sponsor role where TON previously stood
⚫️ For TON, it looks like another case where the ecosystem fades into the background while Telegram becomes the front-facing brand
⚫️ For Durov, Codeforces is personal: algorithms, talent, ratings, public proof of skill
⚫️ The ICPC angle makes it even more interesting, because the same programming world is now tied to Dubai, infrastructure and global developer attention
TON got replaced on the header, but not necessarily pushed out of the story. Telegram just took the main signboard back. Classic Durov move: fund the infrastructure, own the narrative, and leave everyone guessing what the next “good news” means.
