🇮🇳 New Delhi on High Alert as Gen-Z Protests Challenge Modi Government

India’s capital has been placed under heavy security as authorities move to prevent planned protests by the Gen-Z-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), whose supporters are demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and reforms to the voter registration process.

According to Al Jazeera, nearly 30,000 security personnel have been deployed, protest leaders have been detained, and restrictions have affected transport and internet access. The movement says its demonstrations oppose a voter-list revision that critics claim has removed around 130 million names and threatens voting rights.

Critics accuse the government of suppressing dissent, while protesters say they will continue mobilizing despite the crackdown. The dispute has intensified concerns over electoral transparency, civil liberties, and the right to peaceful protest in the world’s largest democracy.
