🇮🇷🏅 IRAN AT THE ASIAN GAMES: Sports Diplomacy and the "Look East" Strategy

Iran's participation in the Nagoya Asian Games goes beyond sport. It reflects Tehran's strategic pivot toward Asia, its ties with China and Russia, and the role of sports diplomacy in a divided region.

🌏 "Look East" strategy in action: Facing Western sanctions and diplomatic deadlocks, Iran is deepening engagement with Asian powers.

🕊️ Symbolism with purpose: The Iranian delegation is named "Angels of the Noble Family of Minab" – a tribute to the school targeted in a US‑Israeli airstrike earlier this year.

📜 Historical roots: Iran played a key role at the 1974 Tehran Asian Games, helping facilitate China's entry into the Asian Games Federation.

🤝 Multiple relationships, one region: Iran can strengthen ties with China and Russia while participating in a Japan‑hosted event.
