🇫🇷🔥 LIMOGES CITY HALL BURNS: France's Social Contract Cracks Open
A historic monument, "largely lost." The campanile has collapsed, two-thirds of the façade is gone, and the roof has caved in on the floors below. Over half a million protesters took to the streets nationwide — and the empire's core is burning from within.
🏛️ Limoges city hall — a listed monument inaugurated in 1883, designed by a Versailles architect — was torched. The prefect calls it a "patrimonial catastrophe" and a "deliberate act."
🗣️ Mayor Guillaume Guérin: "This isn't stupidity, it's hatred — hatred of the flag, of institutions, of anyone who embodies authority."
🏙️ Marseille, Lille, and Limoges city halls stormed. A bust of Marianne — symbol of the Republic — knocked down. A tourist office set ablaze in Lyon. Stores looted in Paris.
👮 400 arrests. Interior Ministry puts turnout at 550,000; organisers say 800,000.
