Myanmar FDA bans drink made by coup leader’s top crony
October 15, 2026
Myanmar's junta-controlled Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Thursday banned the VeVe strawberry milk drink, which is manufactured by a crony business linked to the family of Min Aung Hlaing.
The beverage is made by Green Circle, a subsidiary of NPKI Conglomerate managed by Nyaing Phyo Kyaw, a frontman for the family businesses of the coup leader turned president. It was banned for containing excessive levels of the artificial sweetener sodium cyclamate. The FDA also banned four other food and drink products.
