🚀 The Theory of Evolution: a brief overview of the main TON-wallet versions

Two weeks ago, we discussed the development of the new "Wallet V5" standard, as well as the change in the first letters of addresses from "EQ" to "UQ" in Tonkeeper. On this occasion, we're publishing our concise review of the primary wallet versions, which will be helpful for both new users of the TON ecosystem and seasoned crypto enthusiasts.

⚫️ Wallet V1 — the simplest wallet option. It allows you to send transactions and checks nothing but their sequence number (seqno) and your signature.

⚫️ Wallet V2 introduced the feature of setting a «timer», which limits the transaction by time if you don't want it to be confirmed too late.

⚫️ Wallet V3 brought a new feature that allows the creation of multiple wallets using the same public key.

⚫️ Wallet V4 (the current version) added plugins, enabling the implementation of complex logic in conjunction with the user's wallet. For example, subscriptions to various services became available, ranging from private channels to paid applications.

⚫️ The developing Wallet V5 is expected to support gasless transactions (delegating gas payments to a third party), offer tools for account recovery, and introduce a flexible mechanism for extensions. Additionally, the new version promises to significantly reduce fees for users and traders.

👁 What's the bottom line?

⚫️ Before the advent of Wallet V4, there were neither NFTs nor tokens in the ecosystem. Therefore, in anticipation of the fifth version's release, a questions arise: how simple and understandable will the process of transferring a variety of digital assets be?
