💡 The fifth version of TON wallets is on the horizon

⚫️ The Tonkeeper team is working on a new wallet standard to replace the current version, v4R2, named "Wallet V5" (also simply referred to as "W5").

⚫️ It's announced that this new standard will reduce commission costs, incorporate a flexible extension mechanism, support "delegation" of gas payment to a third party, as well as "gas-free transactions" and "account recovery" (details on these features have not yet been provided).

⚫️ Additionally, a competition has been announced for developers to optimize the W5 code to reduce gas consumption during transaction processing. Winners will receive prizes in Toncoin, the amount of which will depend on the saved gas.

⚫️ A reminder: In TON, wallets are implemented based on smart contracts. This has led to the emergence of different versions. To expand the capabilities of wallets, a more functional smart contract is occasionally introduced as a new standard (for example, the fourth version included plugin support).

⚫️ Due to TON's unique implementation, the same seed phrase combined with different versions of smart contracts creates separate independent wallets. Don't be alarmed if, upon first use of W5, you don't see the funds you deposited in a different version on your balance.
