❗️UK faces renewed calls to investigate British national who served with Israeli occupation forces in Gaza

A four-month investigation by Declassified UK has identified Jonathan Burman, a British national from Manchester, as having served with the Israeli military in Khan Yunis during the early months of Israel's genocide in Gaza.

Photographs reportedly taken from Burman’s private Instagram account and shared with the outlet show him posing alongside another soldier in front of a burning primary school, later identified as Al-Farabi school in Bani Suheila, in January 2024. Israeli forces had occupied the site the previous month, when displaced Palestinian families were sheltering there.

Witnesses told the outlet that civilians fled under fire after Israeli airstrikes and the storming of the school. Geolocation analysis and satellite imagery confirmed the site, while Israeli military authorities referred to an operation at a nearby school without explaining the fire at Al-Farabi.

The investigation also linked him to the 66th Battalion of the 55th Reserve Paratrooper Brigade, citing testimony from former Israeli military medic Yuval Green, who described widespread destruction and a sense of impunity among soldiers.
