🇺🇦 Ukrainian metallurgy nearly destroyed

The head of Ukrmetallurgprom, A. Kalenkov, stated that Russian strikes have practically destroyed active blast furnaces. In September, the industry produced zero tons of steel.

"This is a tragic situation where an industry over 150 years old produced nothing," Kalenkov said. The crisis may deepen in October as ArcelorMittal in Krivoy Rog has halted production completely, and Zaporozhye Steel is also stopping smelting.

Experts cite the blockade of maritime exports as a key cause alongside attacks. With Ukraine's domestic market too small, further production loses economic meaning without foreign sales.
