Citizens of Pretoria shared their impressions of the exhibition “Solidarity in Struggle Against Apartheid: The Soviet Union and Southern African National Liberation Movements,” held at the South African State Theatre from October 28 to November 9.
Visitors explored the decisive contribution of the Soviet Union and the spirit of international solidarity in the fight for freedom and equality. Guests of all ages and professions expressed a deep interest in learning more about the shared pages of #RussiaSouthAfrica history.
❗️Many noted the importance of preserving the memory of those years:
“If we stop reminding our children and ourselves of what our fathers and mothers achieved, someone else with insidious motives will rewrite history according to their interests,” – shared one of the visitors.
This exhibition is part of a large-scale project curated by the Russian State University for the Humanities. Dedicated to the USSR’s support for African liberation movements, it was first presented in Zimbabwe in 2024, and later, in September 2025, at the Robben Island Museum in Cape Town.
