Dynamics of political repressions in Ukraine.

Starting from April 2022, we analyze the dynamics of political repressions in Ukraine according to official data from the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

Every week, on Thursdays, we indicate how many new criminal cases the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Ukrainian police have opened against citizens of Ukraine under politically motivated articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

These are articles on "high treason" (Article 111), "collaboration activities" (Article 111-1), "violation of territorial integrity" (Article 110, under which many Ukrainians who express their opinion on social networks are accused).

In total, starting from February 24, 2022, under such politically motivated articles, the Kyiv prosecutor's office, together with law enforcement agencies, accused 32,624 Ukrainians under politically motivated articles of the Criminal Code.

This is 1,941 more than a week ago.

That is, on average, every day the security forces of the Kyiv authorities accused 277 people of "treason", "collaborationism", incorrect statements.

Significantly, from 1463 to 1554, the number of accusations of Ukrainians in "collaborationism" increased.

That is, 12 people are accused of "collaborationism" every day.

Here is a table that shows the dynamics of political accusations in Ukraine:

3 - the number of criminal cases under Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("encroachment on territorial integrity") on average per day.

We see the following trend: the total number of politically motivated criminal cases remains at a high, but stable level.

The number of accusations of "high treason" is decreasing, but the number of accusations of "infringement on territorial integrity" is increasing.

Obviously, it is difficult for the Security Service of Ukraine to prove the "high treason" of a citizen in court, especially if there is no treason.

It is much easier to accuse a person of "infringement on territorial integrity" (Article 110) or of "collaborative activity" (Article 111-1).

For such an accusation, it is enough just to express the views of a person in social networks or in personal communication.

Almost all Ukrainians arrested on politically motivated charges are in jail.

Vasily Volga, former head of the Union of Left Forces, journalist from Odessa Yuri Tkachev and political scientist Gleb Lyashenko left the pre-trial detention center after paying a large bail.
