FOX News contributor Mollie Hemingway on "Special Report" assessed the midterm landscape, saying Democrats have several factors working in their favor but are not performing as well as they should.

BRET BAIER, HOST: Mollie, a lot of people are making something about the red states that the president is traveling to. He's clearly trying to gin up the base, get them fired up. There are a lot of, as we talked about last night, a lot of things he can talk about that are on the positive side for the Trump administration ledger.

MOLLIE HEMINGWAY, FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR: Democrats have certainly made sure that Trump is on the ballot in the races they're running. The hatred of the president, or hatred of the country, do seem to be very big motivating issues for Democrats.

But Republican voters also need to be given a reason to turn out and vote. And so it's important that Trump do campaign where he's campaigning to get that enthusiasm up. It should be a very good year for Democrats. Everything is trending that way, not just that it's a standard midterm, but cost of living, inflation being things that are top of mind. Inflation having -- or immigration having been largely solved by President Trump is another thing that was a big reason why people voted for him, and I'm sure he wants to talk about that.

But Democrats should be doing probably better than they are, in part because some of them are having trouble acting normal for five minutes. In Texas, you have a Senate candidate who says his main issue is transing children. In Michigan you have a Senate candidate who is BFFs with a terrorism supporter. And so Trump is mindful to get the enthusiasm for Republicans going and reminding them of these issues as well.
