org-publish issues with recent updates

I've been using org-publish along with this package called [ox-tufte](https://github.com/ox-tufte/ox-tufte) to generate my static website/blog and it's been working fine for a while now but ever since a recent update, i've had trouble with getting one of my publishing functions to work. i'm not sure where to approach this but i keep getting an error with this function (error further below the function)

and the error (it's part of a longer error but that has basically all the details of the files involved

does anyone know what I'm missing here? I've been trying to rewrite this function for quite some time now.
